In 1989, the same year millions marched in Washington, D.C. for reproductive rights, Planned Parenthood Action Fund was founded to organize, educate, and mobilize voters. On August 28, 2026, we return to the Lincoln Memorial to defend the vote, and we are calling every supporter, volunteer, and partner to stand together.
Planned Parenthood Action Fund was founded in 1989 by Faye Wattleton, the first woman since Margaret Sanger and the first person of color to lead Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Facing a hostile political climate, Wattleton built PPAF as a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to public education, grassroots organizing, and legislative and electoral advocacy.
For more than three decades, PPAF has worked to promote, protect, expand, and restore access to sexual health care and to defend reproductive rights, through voter education, community organizing, and civic engagement across the country.
