Marching Together for Justice and Democracy

On August 28, Bet Mishpachah joins fellow Jewish organizations and our neighbors across Washington for the March on Washington 2026: Defend the Vote, commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the original march and of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech. Register below to march with your Bet Mishpachah community.

Who We Are

Bet Mishpachah

Bet Mishpachah is Washington's only egalitarian synagogue embracing a diversity of sexual and gender identities, founded in 1975 by members of DC's LGBTQ+ community. We are a congregation for gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, transgender, and queer Jews, our families, friends, and allies, and all who wish to participate in an inclusive, progressive, and mutually supportive community.

This march focuses on voting rights protections now under threat, and it stands squarely within our tradition of showing up for justice. Marching alongside our fellow Jewish organizations and the broader coalition is a natural extension of who we are as a congregation.

Founded 1975

Fifty years serving DC's LGBTQ+ Jewish community as an inclusive, progressive congregational home.

Egalitarian

Full participation for all members in worship and leadership, regardless of gender.

All Are Welcome

Congregants, families, friends, and allies of every background are part of our community.

"Save the Date: March on Washington. This year, the march focuses on voting rights protections now under threat."Bet Mishpachah
